【摘要】:Thepropertiesdeterminedbythesetestmethodsareofvalueinmaterialspecifications,qualifications,databasegeneration,certification,research,anddevelopment.Thesetestmethodsareintendedforthetestingoffibersthathavebeenspecificallydevelopedforuseasreinforcingagentsinadvancedcompositestructures.Thetestresultsofanimpregnatedandconsolidatedfibershouldberepresentativeofthestrengthandmodulusthatareavailableinthematerialwhenusedasintended.Theperformanceoffibersindifferentresinsystemscanvarysignificantlysothatcorrelationsbetweenresultsusingthesetestmethodsandcompositetestingmaynotalwaysbeobtained.Thereproducibilityoftestresultsisdependentuponprecisecontroloveralltestconditions.Resintype,contentanddistribution,curingprocess,filamentalignment,grippinginthetestingmachine,andalignmentinthetestingmachineareofspecialimportance.Themeasuredstrengthsoffibersarenotuniquequantitiesandtestresultsarestronglydependentonthetestmethodsused.Thereforethetestmethoddescribedherewillnotnecessarilygivethesamemeanstrengthsorstandarddeviationsasthoseobtainedfromsinglefilaments,dryfibers,compositelaminas,orcompositelaminates.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthepreparationandtensiletestingofresin-impregnatedandconsolidatedtestspecimensmadefromcontinuousfilamentcarbonandgraphiteyarns,rovings,andtowstodeterminetheirtensileproperties.1.2Thesetestmethodsalsocoverthedeterminationofthedensityandmassperunitlengthoftheyarn,roving,ortowtoprovidesupplementarydatafortensilepropertycalculation.1.3Thesetestmethodsincludeaprocedureforsizingremovaltoprovidethepreferreddesizedfibersamplesfordensitymeasurement.Thisproceduremayalsobeusedtodeterminetheweightpercentsizing.1.4Thesetestmethodsincludeaprocedurefordeterminingtheweightpercentmoistureadsorptionofcarbonorgraphitefiber.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
