【摘要】:Theknowledgeofvehiclestoppingdistanceservesasanadditionaltoolincharacterizingthepavementsurfaceskidresistance.Whenusedinconjunctionwithotherphysicalandchemicaltests,theskidresistancevaluesderivedfromthistestmethodmaydeterminethesuitabilityandadequacyofpavingmaterialsorfinishingtechniques.Improvementsinpavementmaintenancepracticesandschedulesmayresultfromuseofthistestmethod.Thestoppingdistancevaluesmeasuredbythistestmethodwiththeequipmentandproceduresstatedhereindonotnecessarilyagreeorcorrelatedirectlywithothermethodsofskid-resistancemeasurements.,Thistestmethodissuitableforresearchanddevelopmentpurposes,wheredirectcomparisonbetweenpavementsurfacesaretobemadewithinthesametestprogram.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthemeasurementofstoppingdistanceonpavedsurfaceswithapassengervehicleequippedwithspecifiedfull-scaleautomobiletires.1.2Thistestmethodutilizesameasurementofstoppingdistancesrepresentingthenon-steadystateskidresistanceonfourlockedwheelsasthevehicledeceleratesoverawettedpavementsurfaceunderspecifiedlimitsofstaticwheelloadandfromadesiredspeed,whilethevehicleremainsessentiallyparalleltoitsoriginaldirectionofmotion.1.3ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.4Thisstandardmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
